Legendary AF Hellboy Is Coming and It Looks As Good As A Marvel Movie

For now, all we have are two pictures. For now, we’ll take it!

First, pictured below is a photo released earlier this week over at Entertainment Weekly. It gives the first look at David Harbour’s Hellboy. What you may notice first, aside from the stunning depiction of the character, is that the Hellboy has not one, but both horns on his head. This small detail may seem trivial but I believe that it eludes to something bigger.

Allow me a chance to explain.

Legendary AF Hellboy

Hellboy is the Beast of the Apocalypse. He wields a power most comic book characters dream of and his right hand, the Hand of Doom, is capable of massive destruction. The Hand is equipped with the power to unlock the Primordial Demon Dragon. Once unlocked, the dragon is free to reign down terror and destruction on whoever lies in its path.

The Legendary AF Hellboy isn’t all bad

In fact, Hellboy is an anomaly.

Sent to Earth for the sole purpose of carrying out destruction, he instead spends his time partying, drinking, and having a good time. Quite frankly, he has zero desire to cause harm and symbolically shows this after he shaved the horns on his forehead down to nothing but stumps.

He is not stupid. There is, of course, a time and place for violence, demons, and power. If this poster means anything, that time and place is now.

The second picture (title image), released at New York Comic Con, shows the entire cast in all their glory.

The story is set to follow the titular character as he does battles with an ancient sorceress (Nimue the Queen of Blood) who aims to bring a swift end to humanity. Aside from being one of the best Hellboy stories, the movie features one of my favorite actors in Mila Jovovich. You may remember her from the Resident Evil movies and the Fifth Element.

Further to these two, the image also depicts stellar cast choices in Daniel Day Kim’s Ben Daimio and Sasha Lane’s Alice Monaghan. Hellboy will hit theatres April 12, 2019, and should carry the torch of the franchise nicely.
