2025’s Second-Highest Grossing Horror Hit Is Getting an Official Sequel
The 2025 horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines has become a major hit, and now New Line Cinema is ready to keep the story going. The studio, which is part of Warner Bros., has decided to move forward with a sequel and has brought back Lori Evans Taylor, one of the co-writers of Bloodlines, to write the next chapter.
Final Destination: Bloodlines is the sixth movie in the long-running Final Destination series. It was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, and the screenplay was written by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick.
The story itself was developed by Taylor, Busick, and Jon Watts, the director best known for Spider-Man: Homecoming, who also contributed creatively to the film. The movie stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana as Stefani, a college student who receives visions from her grandmother before she dies. These visions reveal a terrifying past event, a skyscraper collapse that was narrowly avoided in 1969, and warn that Death is coming for their family.
Supporting roles include performances from Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Brec Bassinger, and Tony Todd.

The film performed exceptionally well at the box office. It made $138.1 million in the United States and Canada, and earned an additional $147.2 million worldwide, bringing its total to $285.3 million.
This makes Bloodlines the most successful film in the Final Destination franchise by a wide margin, with its domestic earnings more than double those of the previous highest earner, 2009’s The Final Destination.
According to sources, the success of Bloodlines is largely credited to the strong writing from Taylor and Busick. Taylor’s return to write the sequel shows New Line’s confidence in her vision and storytelling.
The production team is also staying consistent. Craig Perry, who has been a key producer for the franchise, is back along with longtime producer Sheila Hanahan Taylor. Jon Watts and his wife Dianne McGunigle, who are also involved as producers, bring an interesting connection to the series, Watts and McGunigle’s first date was reportedly going to see a Final Destination movie. Warren Zide, a veteran producer for the series, will serve as executive producer for the upcoming film.
While details about the new sequel’s plot haven’t been released, fans can expect more of the suspense and chilling death scenes the series is famous for. With the same creative team behind the scenes and the massive success of Bloodlines as a starting point, the next Final Destination movie is already building high expectations.
