27 Cast Members Announced For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Marvel Studios has officially announced the cast for Avengers: Doomsday ahead of its 2026 release. Last summer, Marvel boss Kevin Feige shared that Avengers 5 would be heading in a new direction.
The movie was originally called Avengers: Kang Dynasty, but after a weak response to the villain Kang and Marvel’s decision to part ways with actor Jonathan Majors, changes were made. Feige then revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would return as Doctor Doom, making him the new main villain. The film was renamed Avengers: Doomsday, but the heroes joining the fight were not revealed at the time.
Today, Marvel Studios held a live stream on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and Instagram to officially announce the cast. They also confirmed that the movie is now in production. Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, with filming expected to continue for several months. Below is the full cast list for the highly anticipated film.

The Avengers: Doomsday cast includes characters from all phases of the MCU and even actors from other franchises, with some notable names missing from the list like Charlie Cox, Elizabeth Olsen & Tom Holland which fans would love to see in the movie.
Many actors from Marvel’s 2025 movies were part of the announcement, including characters from Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It’s unclear if they will have big roles in Avengers: Doomsday or if Marvel is just highlighting these movies.
Since Doctor Doom is a major villain of the Fantastic Four, it makes sense for them to be involved. The reason for including so many Thunderbolts characters is less clear.
One big surprise was definitely the inclusion of the original X-Men cast. This suggests that the X-Men universe will be important in Avengers: Doomsday and that more X-Men actors could join the MCU. A trend that started with the release of Deadpool & Wolverine last summer.
Doomsday is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026.
