The next installment in the franchise will be called Ice Age: Boiling Point and is set to hit theaters on February 5, 2027. A new logo for the film was also unveiled at the event, giving fans their first glimpse of the icy adventure returning to the big screen.
Produced by 20th Century Animation and distributed by 20th Century Studios, the film will be the first theatrical Ice Age movie not produced by Blue Sky Studios following its closure in April 2021.
Ice Age: Boiling Point will continue the story of Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, and Buck. Ray Romano returns as Manny, the woolly mammoth and leader of the Herd. John Leguizamo reprises his role as Sid, the lovable and chatty ground sloth. Denis Leary will once again voice Diego, the fearless smilodon, while Simon Pegg returns as Buck, the one-eyed weasel and dinosaur hunter. Queen Latifah will voice Ellie, Manny’s wife and an essential member of the Herd.
Plans for a sixth Ice Age film have been discussed for years. In June 2016, co-director Galen T. Chu mentioned that there were ideas for another installment, though its production would depend on audience interest and the box office performance of the fifth film.
In February 2022, producer Lori Forte commented on the possibility, saying, “I think it’s a little premature. We hope that people will respond to this, and that will promote us to be able to do another movie. If the audiences want it, we’ve got plenty of ideas. There’s no end to ideas and adventures and characters, so we’re ready if they’re ready.”
Development officially moved forward in September 2024 when John Leguizamo confirmed that the sixth film was in progress. By November 2024, during D23 in Brazil, the project was formally announced, with Romano, Leguizamo, Leary, Pegg, and Latifah all set to return.

The film was initially scheduled for a December 18, 2026 release in the United States. However, after Disney shifted the release of other major titles, including Avengers: Doomsday, Ice Age: Boiling Point was moved to February 5, 2027, to avoid competition and give the movie a strong chance at the box office.
With its returning cast, a new story, and updated production, Ice Age: Boiling Point promises to bring both nostalgia and fresh excitement to fans of the franchise. Disney and 20th Century Animation are gearing up to deliver another big adventure for audiences worldwide.
