Paul Bettany Gives Hilarious Answer About What He Wants in the Next MCU Phase
Fans are eagerly waiting to see Paul Bettany return as White Vision in the upcoming Disney+ series Vision Quest. The show, a spin-off from WandaVision, is part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is scheduled to debut in 2026.
While Bettany has not been confirmed for upcoming MCU films like Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, viewers may need to watch the series first to understand where his character stands.
The actor recently appeared at Los Angeles Comic Con and gave fans a hint about the story. “It’s about intergenerational trauma… fathers and sons and denial of pain and denial of your own truth and coming to terms with who and what you are,” Bettany teased.
Many believe this refers to the returning Ultron, played by James Spader, who is technically Vision’s “father.” The focus on intergenerational trauma also suggests that Vision’s own sons could be involved, notably Wiccan and Speed, both of whom have been confirmed to be alive in the MCU with the release of Agatha All Along.
When asked what he hopes to see in the next phase of the MCU, Bettany offered a hilarious response: “A massive paycheck.”
Vision Quest is created by Terry Matalas for Disney+ and will run for eight episodes. Bettany reprises his role as Vision alongside James Spader, Todd Stashwick, Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, and Orla Brady.
Development for the series started in October 2022, initially under head writer Jac Schaeffer, but by May 2024, Matalas had redeveloped the series with Bettany attached. Filming took place at Pinewood Studios in London from March to late July of this year, with several directors, including Matalas, Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, and Vincenzo Natali.
Various other AI characters, some returning from previous MCU projects, were also cast during production.
