Charlie Cox will not be attending Spacecon San Antonio due to a scheduling conflict, and fans think they know why.

The actor is expected to return as Daredevil in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is currently filming in London.

Principal photography for the film started on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland. The movie has been working under the temporary title Blue Oasis.

Brett Pawlak, who has worked on several of director Jonathon Cretton’s previous films, is handling cinematography. The Jackie Chan Stunt Team is coordinating the fight scenes, returning after their work on Shang-Chi.

Filming had originally been planned for early 2025 but was adjusted to accommodate Tom Holland’s other projects, including The Odyssey, which filmed first. In Glasgow, production took place across the city center, including Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate.

These locations doubled for New York City in the movie, including one of the film’s big action sequences. Holland said he was excited to start shooting on location again. “It felt like making Homecoming, after we were stuck on soundstages for No Way Home because of COVID,” he shared.

Set photos from Glasgow showed armored vehicles with a red demon logo. Bradley Russell from Total Film noticed that the symbols looked similar to the Inner Demons gang in the comics, suggesting that Mister Negative could appear in the film. Meanwhile, Paul Trainer at Glasgow World spotted a rhinoceros-shaped bust on set, hinting at the comic villain Rhino.

Filming also moved to Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey on August 7, with Glasgow production extended until August 18 to shoot a commercial. Tramell Tillman joined the cast at the end of August. In September, most of the soundstage work was done at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. During that time, Ruffalo said he was “still waiting to hear” about his role and had not seen a script.

On September 19, Holland suffered a mild concussion while performing a stunt at Pinewood, pausing production until September 29.

The delay did not affect the movie’s planned release date. Around the same time, Marvin Jones III was revealed to be playing Lonnie Lincoln, also known as Tombstone. Some additional filming took place in Basingstoke with one of Holland’s stunt doubles and continued into early October.

It’s possible that the injury and the slight delay in filming caused scheduling conflict with Cox’s Spacecon appearance.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to be released in the United States on July 31, 2026. It was originally scheduled for July 24 but was moved back a week so it would come out two weeks after The Odyssey, avoiding competition for IMAX screens.

The film will be part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
