Leaked footage from the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is giving fans new hints about the film’s characters.

The insider suggested that the character could be Yuri Watanabe, a familiar figure from the Spider-Man comics.

In the comics, Watanabe replaces Jean DeWolff as a police detective and sometimes teams up with Spider-Man. Over time, she adopts the vigilante persona Wraith, using gadgets and costumes to fight crime in New York, even if her methods clash with Spider-Man’s sense of justice. She has also appeared in video games, most notably Marvel’s Spider-Man series, voiced by Tara Platt.
Production for Brand New Day has been taking place across several locations in England. Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey was used for scenes in early August, and filming continued in Glasgow until mid-August for a commercial sequence.
Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire hosted soundstage work throughout September, though production paused briefly when Holland suffered a mild concussion during a stunt. Filming later resumed, including shoots in Basingstoke, where Michael Mando was spotted as Scorpion alongside Holland. Marvin Jones III has been cast as Lonnie Lincoln, also known as Tombstone, adding another villain to the lineup.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, after being pushed back one week to avoid competing with The Odyssey for IMAX screens. The film will be part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is highly anticipated by fans for its mix of returning characters and new faces.
The leaked footage has sparked excitement about Yuri Watanabe’s potential role and her connection to Spider-Man. Seeing familiar comic book characters on screen often adds depth to the story, and Watanabe’s inclusion could bring an interesting dynamic to the film.
