2025’s Blockbuster Hit Is Finally Streaming on Peacock
DreamWorks and Universal’s live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon is now available to stream on Peacock as of October 10th.
The movie, which closely follows the original animated film, was a huge hit at the box office. Globally, it has earned $635 million, with $263 million coming from the U.S., making it the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2025 so far.
Fans who missed it in theaters, where it premiered on June 13, can now watch it from home. Peacock has also added all three original animated How to Train Your Dragon films, allowing viewers to enjoy the complete Toothless saga in one place.

The live-action version is a fantasy adventure directed and co-written by Dean DeBlois, who also worked on the animated trilogy. The film stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gabriel Howell, Julian Dennison, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Peter Serafinowicz, and Nick Frost. Gerard Butler reprises his role as Stoick the Vast from the original films.
How to Train Your Dragon premiered at CinemaCon on April 2, and opened in U.S. theaters on June 13. Critics gave generally positive reviews, praising its visuals and faithfulness to the animated original. Commercially, the film has been a success, ranking as the fifth-highest-grossing movie of 2025, the top-grossing installment in the franchise, and the second-highest-grossing live-action/animated hybrid ever.
A sequel based on the second animated film is set to release on June 11, 2027.
With the film now on Peacock, it’s easier than ever for fans to dive into the world of dragons and see how the live-action version brings their favorite characters to life. The film’s success at the box office and its streaming debut show that the franchise still has a strong following.
