Mark Ruffalo has opened up about the possibility of a solo Hulk movie, revealing that talks with Marvel Studios are ongoing but a project is still far from guaranteed.

In a recent interview with GQ, the actor said he would love to star in a solo Hulk film. “Yeah, I’d love to have a solo Hulk movie,” Ruffalo said.

The actor, who has played Bruce Banner and the Hulk since 2012’s Avengers, explained why the character has not had his own film since The Incredible Hulk in 2008, starring Edward Norton.

“I don’t know if you know the story of that, but it’s not really owned by Marvel. It’s a Universal property. I don’t know if it’ll ever really come to be, honestly,” he said. “We keep talking about it, what it would be. There’s been so many Hulk movies already, it’s like, does anyone really want another one? But I’d love one, and I do think the audiences would be into it if we could crack the nut of it.”

Ruffalo is the only main actor from the 2012 Avengers who hasn’t received a solo movie or Disney Plus series of his own, despite being a fan favorite.

He also mentioned that last year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told him there wouldn’t be another Hulk film. “As far as I know. I could talk more about it but I’ve been told not to,” Ruffalo added.

While his solo film remains uncertain, Ruffalo is set to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland, though he recently admitted he hasn’t read a script yet.

“I haven’t read a script yet,” he said, leaving fans unsure about his role. It is also unclear whether he will be part of Avengers: Doomsday, as he was not included in the film’s cast reveal livestream. Ruffalo joked about the omission, saying, “They decided that it was better to get rid of me than for me to tell the end of the next movie.”

Fans last saw Ruffalo’s Hulk in Disney Plus’ She-Hulk (2022), where it was revealed he has a son named Skaar. Both characters are expected to appear in future MCU projects, but the details of Ruffalo’s upcoming roles remain vague.

It’s exciting to see Ruffalo still interested in exploring Hulk on his own. The character has a huge fan base, and a solo film could be a big hit if Marvel can figure out the rights and story. What do you think, should Hulk finally get his own MCU movie? Share your thoughts in the comments.
