Marvel Studios is reportedly moving forward with a second season of Marvel Zombies, the adult animated series that premiered on Disney+ in September.

The update comes from industry insider Daniel Richtman, who shared the information on his Patreon.

Marvel Zombies was created by Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells as a spin-off of the animated series What If…?. The show explores an alternate universe where heroes face off against superpowered zombies. Andrews served as showrunner and director, while Wells was head writer.

The series brought together a large voice cast including Iman Vellani, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and Elizabeth Olsen.

The show used the same animation style as What If…?, with Stellar Creative Lab returning to handle the visuals. It also became Marvel Studios Animation’s first TV-MA-rated series, aimed at older audiences. The first season consisted of four episodes and was part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While critics were divided on the series, it captured attention for its darker, more mature take on the MCU. Fans were intrigued by the mix of horror and superhero action, making it one of Marvel’s most talked-about animated projects.

No details have been released yet about the plot for season two, which cast members will return, or when it might premiere. However, the decision to move forward signals that Marvel Studios sees potential in exploring this unique corner of its animated universe.
