Sydney Sweeney Opens Up About Plastic Surgery and Tattoos
Sydney Sweeney is set to star as Christy Martin, one of the most famous female boxers in the United States, in the upcoming sports drama Christy.
The film follows Martin’s rise in the 1990s and her survival after a violent attack by her husband in 2010.
Directed by David Michôd and co-written with Mirrah Foulkes, Christy premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5 and will be released in theaters on November 7 through Black Bear Pictures.
For the role, Sweeney went through a major physical transformation. Some fans reacted negatively online, saying she had gained weight or wasn’t taking care of herself. Sweeney dismissed these claims, saying she was actually in excellent shape thanks to intense training for the film.
During a recent interview with Variety, Sweeney opened up about her personal life and addressed rumors about cosmetic procedures.
“I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing. I’m going to age gracefully,” she said. She also laughed about online comparisons of her past and present photos.
“It’s really funny. I’ll see things online like ‘comparison pictures.’ I’m like, ‘I’m 12 in that photo. Of course I’m going to look different. I have makeup on now and I’m 15 years older,’” she explained.
Sweeney also shared how she maintains confidence in a challenging industry. “Being an actress, it’s a lot harder to stand in the room and demand your worth and for people to look at you and value you. I have to remind myself like, ‘Hey, Syd, you’re actually powerful. Stand up a little taller,’” she said.
Through her work in Christy and her personal outlook, Sweeney is showing that she is focused, confident, and in control of her career and public image.
It’s refreshing to see an actress speak honestly about the pressures of fame and take pride in her natural self. Sweeney’s approach sends a positive message about self-confidence and hard work.
