New Reports Reveal Plans for the Upcoming ‘Descendants’ Trilogy
Disney is gearing up for the next chapter in its popular Descendants franchise with the upcoming musical teen fantasy film, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland.
Scheduled to hit Disney Channel and Disney+ in summer 2026, this marks the fifth installment in the series and follows the 2024 release of Descendants: The Rise of Red. The film is directed by Kimmy Gatewood and written by Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer.
Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker return as Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe Charming, the daughter of Cinderella and King Charming.
The story promises to explore new adventures as these characters navigate challenges in a magical world. According to @BeyondReporter, the next Descendants trilogy will also focus on a new romance between Princess Tatum Roger, Tiana’s daughter, and Fraiser Rider, the son of Flynn Rider, whose mother has a villainous past.

The cast features familiar faces and exciting newcomers. Leonardo Nam plays Maddox Hatter, Red’s tutor and son of the Mad Hatter.
Liamani Segura joins as Pink, Red’s younger sister, while Brendon Tremblay portrays Max Hatter, Maddox’s son. Alexandro Byrd takes on the role of Luis Madrigal, and Kiara Romero stars as Hazel Hook, the daughter of Captain Hook. Joel Oulette appears as Robbie Hood, the son of Robin Hood, while Zavien Garrett plays Felix Facilier, and Ryan McEwen and Dayton Paradis portray the twin sons of Mr. Smee, Squirmy and Squeaky. Returning adult stars include Rita Ora as the Queen of Hearts, Brandy as Cinderella, and Melanie Paxson as the Fairy Godmother.
Filming for Descendants: Wicked Wonderland took place at The Bridge Studios in Vancouver from April to May of this year. Disney plans to release the film both on Disney Channel and Disney+ in 2026, giving fans of all ages a new magical adventure to enjoy.
