James Van Der Beek, best known for his role as Dawson in “Dawson’s Creek,” is turning to fans for support to help cover his cancer treatment.

The 48-year-old actor is partnering with Propstore to auction off memorabilia from his career.

The collection features wardrobe, props, and set pieces. Items include the prom necklace Dawson gave Joey, played by Katie Holmes, in “Dawson’s Creek,” as well as the cleats and West Canaan Coyotes hat Van Der Beek wore in the 1999 movie “Varsity Blues.”

Reflecting on the auction, he told People, “I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now. While I have some nostalgia tugging at me as I part with these items, it feels good to be able to offer them through Propstore’s auction to share with those who have supported my work over the years.”

The items will be available during Propstore’s Winter Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction from December 5 to December 7. All proceeds will go directly toward Van Der Beek’s medical expenses.

Last year, Van Der Beek was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States, with about 1 in 23 men and 1 in 25 women expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime.

Speaking about his health publicly for the first time, Van Der Beek shared, “I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family. There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good.”

Van Der Beek’s career spans decades, from teen heartthrob on “Dawson’s Creek” to films like “Varsity Blues” and “Donnie Darko,” as well as television projects including “What Would Diplo Do?” and “Pose.” His auction gives fans a chance to own a piece of television and film history while supporting the actor in his fight against cancer.
