“Predator: Badlands” is making waves at the box office. The 2025 science fiction action film earned an additional $13 million recently, bringing its total domestic earnings to $66.3 million.

The worldwide box office for the movie has now passed $136 million. Reports say the film had a production budget of $105 million, making it the most successful Predator movie in the U.S. so far.

The film is the ninth installment in the long-running Predator franchise. It was directed by Dan Trachtenberg, with a screenplay by Patrick Aison based on a story they both created. The movie stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi.

The story follows Dek, a young Predator who has been exiled from his clan. After crash-landing on a dangerous planet, he must prove himself in order to survive. Along the way, he forms an unexpected partnership with Thia, a damaged synthetic from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Together, they face a deadly apex creature that tests their strength and instincts.

Trachtenberg has said that he originally planned three Predator movies: “Predator: Killer of Killers,” “Predator: Badlands,” and a third film he hopes to direct if Badlands continues to succeed. There are also talks with original franchise star Arnold Schwarzenegger about returning as Dutch in a future installment. Fans have also heard rumors about a possible sequel to “Prey,” with the cast reportedly interested in returning.

It looks like the Predator franchise is getting stronger than ever, with big box office results and potential new movies on the way.
