Live-Action ‘Legend of Zelda’: First Look at Link and Zelda in Hyrule
Fans finally got a first look at the live-action Legend of Zelda movie from Sony and Nintendo. On Monday, new images showed Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. In the pictures, the young actors appear in their costumes, with Zelda holding a bow and Link in his iconic green outfit, complete with Hylian ears.
The film is directed by Wes Ball, who is known for The Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. It is set to be released worldwide on May 7, 2027.

Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s legendary creator and one of the producers, shared the casting news over the summer. “I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of ‘The Legend of Zelda,’ Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen,” he wrote on social media.
The movie is an adaptation of the famous Nintendo video game series. Columbia Pictures and Nintendo are producing it, with Sony Pictures distributing the film. Other producers include Avi Arad and Joe Hartwick Jr., and the screenplay is written by Derek Connolly and T. S. Nowlin. Dichen Lachman has been cast as Impa.
Filming started in November in Wellington, New Zealand, and is expected to finish by April 2026.
This first look gives fans an exciting glimpse of what the live-action Hyrule might look like and how beloved characters will appear on screen.
