Tom Cruise on Set with Alejandro G. Iñárritu: First BTS Photos Released
Tom Cruise is back on the big screen, teaming up with acclaimed director Alejandro G. Iñárritu for a new American black comedy.
The project marks Iñárritu’s first English-language film since The Revenant in 2015. He co-wrote the script with Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris Jr., and Nicolás Giacobone.
The film features an impressive ensemble cast including Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and John Goodman, with Tom Cruise in the lead role. According to Warner Bros. Pictures, the movie is set to hit theaters on October 2, 2026, in IMAX.

Production began in the United Kingdom on November 7, 2024, with legendary cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki behind the camera. The movie was shot on 35mm film using VistaVision, and filming wrapped on May 3rd, after six months.
There was a brief pause in March 2025 when John Goodman suffered a minor hip injury, but he has since recovered. In a recent interview, Iñárritu confirmed that the movie is a comedy.
The story centers on the most powerful man in the world, who tries to prove he is humanity’s savior, only to face a personal disaster that threatens everything.
