Ariana Grande Brings Wizardry & Sick Wand Skills to Jimmy Fallon
Ariana Grande impressed fans during her recent visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, showing off her wand skills while promoting her new movie Wicked: For Good. The 32-year-old singer and actress plays Glinda in the highly anticipated musical fantasy sequel.
During the interview, Fallon handed Ariana a sparkly pink wand and asked if she could do flips with it. Surprised, she replied, “I can try. I’m a little out of practice. It’s been like three and a half years.” Fallon reassured her, saying, “No pressure! I hate to ask you to do it.”
Despite the challenge, Ariana carefully stood up, adjusted her footing, and successfully flipped the wand on stage. The audience cheered as she completed the move with ease, showing off her practiced skill.
Wicked: For Good, also called Wicked: Part Two, is the sequel to the 2024 film Wicked. Directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, it continues the story of Glinda and Elphaba from the 2003 stage musical.
The musical itself is based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, which reimagined The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.
The film stars Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum returning from the first movie. Colman Domingo joins the cast for the sequel. Set in the Land of Oz, the story explores Glinda and Elphaba embracing their new identities as the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West.
After a long development and delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, principal photography for both parts of the film began in December 2022 in England. Filming was briefly interrupted by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike and finished in January 2024. Wicked: For Good premiered in São Paulo, Brazil, on November 4, and will be released in the United States on November 21. Critics gave generally positive reviews, though slightly less favorable than the first film.
