Vin Diesel Will Star In and Write a Live-Action ‘Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots’ Movie
Vin Diesel, the star of the Fast & Furious movies, will now write and star in a live-action movie based on Mattel Studios’ Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.
Diesel’s involvement as both a lead actor and producer through his company, One Race Films, was first reported back in April 2021.
The film will bring the classic tabletop boxing game to life, featuring its famous characters, Red Rocker and Blue Bomber.
Robbie Brenner, President of Mattel Studios and Chief Content Officer, who is also producing the movie, said, “Vin is a powerhouse storyteller with an unmatched understanding of action, heart, and world-building. His creative vision for Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots is bold, human, and deeply cinematic—exactly the kind of storytelling we love at Mattel Studios.”
Vin Diesel also spoke about the project, saying, “I am excited to expand the Mattel universe by bringing this classic toy from my childhood to a modern audience by telling a story that examines the role of competition in a world often measured by strength and dominance that dares to reveal the power of compassion at its core.”
Samantha Vincent from One Race Films is also producing the project. Mattel Studios will oversee the film through Darian Greenbaum and Andrew Scannell, while Diesel will handle production on behalf of One Race Films.
Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots was previously being developed at Universal, but now it has found a new home at Mattel Studios.
