The first official look at Spider-Noir, the upcoming noir-inspired Spider-Man series, has been revealed, giving fans their first glimpse of Nicolas Cage as the dark, grizzled hero.

The show is set in an alternate version of 1930s New York City and follows an aging Spider-Man who now works as a private investigator while dealing with his past, according to sources including Marvel Comics and MGM+.

The series was developed by Oren Uziel for MGM+ and will be co-showrun with Steve Lightfoot. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television, Pascal Pictures, Lord Miller Productions, and Amazon MGM Studios, and will be part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU).

Filming took place in Los Angeles from August 2024 to March, using black-and-white cameras to capture the classic film noir style, though a colored version will also be available.

Nicolas Cage stars as Spider-Man Noir, reprising a version of the character he voiced in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). He plays Ben Reilly, a hardened, down-on-his-luck superhero and private investigator.

The cast also includes Lamorne Morris as journalist Robbie Robertson, Brendan Gleeson as a philosophical but dangerous mob boss, Li Jun Li as a nightclub singer, Abraham Popoola as a World War I veteran looking for a chance to succeed, Jack Huston as a bodyguard, and Karen Rodriguez in an undisclosed role.

The show was first announced in February 2023, with Uziel leading development and Lightfoot joining as co-showrunner later that year. Cage’s casting was confirmed in May 2024, when the series was initially titled Noir before being renamed Spider-Noir in July 2024.

Spider-Noir is set to premiere on MGM+ in 2026 with eight episodes and will also be released globally on Amazon Prime Video.
