The series draws inspiration from Andy Lane’s “Young Sherlock” book series and promises to explore the detective’s origin story with Ritchie’s signature cinematic style. According to Prime Video, the story will follow Holmes as an amateur investigator navigating a globe-trotting adventure filled with intrigue and danger.

Ritchie serves as both director and executive producer, alongside showrunner Matthew Parkhill and a team of producers including Dhana Gilbert, Marc Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, and Colin Wilson. Harriet Creelman and Steve Thompson are co-executive producers, and Motive Pictures handled the series’ physical production.

The cast also features Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Max Irons, and Colin Firth. The newly released images show the actors in period costumes, giving a glimpse of the series’ 19th-century setting.

“Young Sherlock” is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in 2026. Ritchie previously directed the 2009 “Sherlock Holmes” film and its 2011 sequel, “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” both starring Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson. While a third film has been rumored for years, “Young Sherlock” marks Ritchie’s first official return to the character in over a decade.
