Apple TV has released the first look at Season 2 of Hijack, the thriller series starring Idris Elba. The new season, which will have eight episodes, begins on January 14, 2026, with new episodes airing weekly until the finale on March 4, 2026.

In the trailer, Elba returns as Sam Nelson, the skilled business negotiator fans saw in Season 1. While he previously tried to handle a hijacking on a flight from Dubai to London, this season he faces a new challenge: a hijacked train in the Berlin Underground. Nelson must use his negotiation skills to protect the hostages while law enforcement works above ground. Their efforts may sometimes clash with Nelson’s hands-on approach.

“Season 2 takes the tension to a whole new level,” said a source familiar with the show. “The train setting brings a fresh type of danger, and Sam has to think fast to save lives.”

Returning cast members include Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi. New faces joining the series are Christian Näthe, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Toby Jones, Karima McAdams, and Christiane Paul.

Elba earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in the first season, which received widespread praise and became one of Apple TV’s top dramas. Season 2 is executive produced by Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash at 60Forty Films, along with George Kay and Jim Field Smith at Idiotlamp Productions. Kay and Field Smith created the series, and Field Smith also serves as the lead director.
