‘Stranger Things 5’ Volume 2 Trailer Finally Drops
The first trailer for Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, has arrived, giving fans a glimpse of the final season’s explosive conclusion. The new footage shows a battered Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and hints that Hawkins’s darkest secrets are about to be revealed.
Volume 2 will premiere on Christmas Day with three episodes. In the trailer, Will (Noah Schnapp) admits to his mom, Joyce (Winona Ryder), “We failed. We never stood a chance.” Joyce, holding him close, replies, “It’s not over. Not by a long shot.” The short teaser is packed with action, including a tense showdown between Dustin and Steve (Joe Keery) and an electrified Demogorgon. It also raises questions about how Will will use his newly revealed powers, first hinted at at the end of Volume 1.
Everything we have ever assumed about the upside down has been dead wrong.

Ross Duffer, co-creator, executive producer, writer, and director, explained that Will’s abilities play a central role in the story. “We’ve always known that Will has a connection to Vecna and the Upside Down,” he said.
“In Season 2, we started to delve into it, but one of the earliest ideas in the new season is, ‘What if Will were able to harness this connection and use it against our villains?’ We also felt it very natural to re-center the story on Will. He was the kid who was taken in Season 1, so it felt right for the story to come full circle. If anyone [was] going to be the key to ending Vecna, it needed to be Will.”
Gaten Matarazzo added that Will’s powers will “change the game” for the Hawkins kids. Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, joked, “We have two Elevens,” referring to the new advantage Will brings to the group. The trailer ends with Vecna ominously saying it’s time for a “new world,” setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown.
The first four episodes of Stranger Things 5 are already streaming on Netflix. Volume 2 will arrive on Christmas Day, with the final episode set to premiere on New Year’s Eve. Both releases will be available at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET.
