“The Muppet Show” is returning for a special event on Disney+ and ABC on February 4, and fans got their first look in a teaser released today.

The beloved Muppets, including Kermit and Miss Piggy, will take over the stage of the original Muppet Theatre once again, joined by special guest Sabrina Carpenter.

The new event promises music, comedy, and plenty of chaos. According to Disney, the special is directed by Alex Timbers, who also serves as executive producer.

Other executive producers include Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, Michael Steinbach, Sabrina Carpenter, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Vogel, and Eric Jacobson.

“The Muppet Show” was originally created by Jim Henson and ran from 1976 to 1981. During its original run, it aired in over 100 countries and featured stars like Elton John, Johnny Cash, Diana Ross, Debbie Harry, Gladys Knight, Liza Minelli, and Paul Simon. The show earned multiple awards, including Emmys, Grammys, Peabodys, and BAFTAs.

Time magazine once called it “the most popular television entertainment now being produced on Earth.” In 2026, the series will celebrate its 50th anniversary. All five original seasons are currently available on Disney+.

Veteran Muppet performers will bring the characters to life in the new special. Dave Goelz, who has worked with The Muppets for over 50 years and was part of the original series, will perform iconic characters like Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew.

Other performers include Bill Barretta, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel. They will be supported by a team of additional puppeteers to recreate the magic of the original series.
