Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming survival action thriller, Apex, starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton. The film promises a tense, edge-of-your-seat story set in the wild, where a rock climber finds herself hunted by a ruthless predator.

Directed by Baltasar Kormákur and written by Jeremy Robbins, Apex brings together an exciting cast including Eric Bana alongside Theron and Egerton.

Charlize Theron is also producing the film, working with Dawn Olmstead, AJ Dix, and Beth Kono, while Kormákur produces through RVK Productions. Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, David Ready, and Ian Bryce of Chernin Entertainment are also on board as producers.

The project was secured by Netflix in February 2024, with Taron Egerton joining the cast in November 2024 and Eric Bana in January. Filming took place in Sydney and across New South Wales, Australia, starting in February.

The newly released trailer gives fans their first look at the film’s thrilling survival premise, highlighting the danger and tension the characters will face in the Australian wilderness. Netflix has set the release date for Apex on April 24, 2026.

With the first trailer now out, anticipation is building for what looks to be a high-stakes, intense thriller. The combination of Theron and Egerton, along with the beautiful yet dangerous landscapes of Australia, sets the stage for a gripping story.
