New Thriller Alert: Ben Affleck & Matt Damon Star in Joe Carnahan’s ‘The Rip’, Trailer Released
Netflix has released a new teaser for the upcoming action thriller, The Rip, starring Hollywood heavyweights Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Steven Yeun, and Teyana Taylor.
Fans finally get a glimpse of the high-stakes story that follows a group of Miami police officers who uncover millions of dollars in a derelict stash house, leading to distrust and tension among them as outsiders learn about the discovery.

The Rip is written and directed by Joe Carnahan, who co-developed the story with Michael McGrale. The film also features Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Néstor Carbonell, and Lina Esco, rounding out a star-studded cast. Affleck and Damon, in addition to starring, are producing the film through their company, Artists Equity.
The project was first announced in June 2024, with Netflix later acquiring the rights to distribute it. Principal photography began on October 3, 2024, in Los Angeles, with additional scenes filmed in New Jersey. Juanmi Azpiroz handled cinematography, capturing the intense and suspenseful tone of the film.
The story centers on JD Byrne (Affleck) and Dane Dumars (Damon), two Miami cops caught in a tense web of secrecy and suspicion after stumbling upon the massive cash stash. As word spreads, the officers are forced to question who they can trust and how far people will go for the money.
The Rip is scheduled for release on Netflix on January 16, 2026, promising a thrilling start to the new year for fans of crime and action dramas.
