Milly Alcock’s Supergirl Looks Unstoppable in New Action-Packed TV Spot
DC Studios has released a new TV spot for Supergirl, giving fans a fresh look at what is shaping up to be a dark and intense space adventure.
The upcoming movie stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El and will be the second film in the new DC Universe. The project is led by DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, according to information released by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios.
The new TV spot teases a fast and emotional journey that feels very different from past versions of Supergirl. This Kara is not bright and hopeful like her cousin Superman. Instead, she is angry, damaged, and driven by loss. The footage hints at violence, chaos, and a long trip across the galaxy that pushes her to her limits.

Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira. Milly Alcock plays Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman, who grew up watching Krypton die around her. Unlike Kal-El, she did not have a peaceful life on Earth. That experience shaped her into someone tougher and more cynical. James Gunn previously described this version of the character as “pixie-ish, but very attitudinal,” and both Gunn and Gillespie have called her an antihero.
The story follows Kara as she travels through space with her dog Krypto while celebrating her 23rd birthday. During her journey, she meets a young girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll. A tragic event changes everything and sends Kara on what has been described as a violent quest for revenge. This plot is inspired by the DC comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Kara’s parents, and Jason Momoa as Lobo, a brutal alien bounty hunter. David Corenswet also appears as Superman, continuing his role from the 2025 film Superman. Kara’s dog Krypto also plays a part in the story, as seen briefly in the TV spot.
This version leading to the big screen took years to come together. A Supergirl movie was first planned under the old DC Extended Universe in 2018. The character appeared in The Flash in 2023, played by Sasha Calle. Everything changed when Gunn and Safran took over DC Studios in 2022 and rebuilt the franchise from the ground up. The new Supergirl film was officially announced in early 2023 as part of the rebooted DC Universe.
Filming began in January 2025 and wrapped in May, with production taking place in England and Scotland. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, including IMAX screens. It will be part of DCU Chapter One, titled Gods and Monsters.
