“Malcolm in the Middle” is returning to screens nearly two decades after it first aired. Hulu has released the first trailer for the revival series, now titled “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair,” and confirmed it will premiere on April 10.

The new four-part event revisits the life of Malcolm, played by Frankie Muniz, now grown up and navigating life with his daughter, played by Keeley Karsten. According to Muniz in the trailer, “My life is fantastic now. All I had to do was stay away from my family!”

Despite his attempts to stay away, Malcolm gets pulled back into family chaos when his parents, Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek), insist he attend their 40th wedding anniversary. The trailer hints at the comedic mayhem fans have come to expect from the series.

The original “Malcolm in the Middle” ran on Fox from 2000 to 2006 and became a defining sitcom of the early 2000s. Most of the original cast returns for the revival, including Muniz, Kaczmarek, Cranston, Chris Kennedy Masterson, Justin Berfield, and Emy Coligado. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark takes over the role of Dewey, and new cast members include Karsten, Vaughan Murrae, and Kiana Madeira.

Linwood Boomer, who created the original series, returns as writer and executive producer. Bryan Cranston, Tracy Katsky of KatCo, Gail Berman, and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann also serve as executive producers.

Ken Kwapis directed all four episodes while also executive producing, with Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye as co-executive producers. The series is produced by 20th Television under Disney Branded Television.

This revival promises a mix of nostalgia and fresh storylines, giving fans a chance to reconnect with the beloved characters while exploring how Malcolm’s life has changed as an adult.
