Jennifer Lawrence Reveals She Sees Herself as a Stay-at-Home Mom Despite Hollywood Fame
Jennifer Lawrence says she sees herself as a “stay-at-home mom,” even with her busy Hollywood career. The Oscar-winning actress spoke about balancing work and family during an appearance on the “SmartLess” podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, on Monday.
“That’s me. I identify as a stay-at-home mom,” Lawrence said. “But I am obviously working.”
Lawrence, who recently finished the press tour for her new film Die My Love alongside Robert Pattinson, explained that her work schedule is usually limited to a few months each year. “I’m not used to being busy like this. I normally have a busy like three months while I’m filming, but even in that sense, it’s calm because there is nothing else to do. I just go to work, I do that, I come home, I sleep, and then I do it again. And then, like, two weeks while you promote – it is hectic,” she said.
During the conversation, Lawrence also shared how much she enjoys downtime. When Bateman said he “loves not doing anything,” she responded simply, “Yeah.” The actress added that her limits are clear when it comes to late-night events. “Oh. I’m in bed. Kindle is lit until like 9:15. And then I don’t even have, like, Kindle light on normally by 9:15,” she said, noting that even holiday parties starting at 9 p.m. are not an option. “You can’t be hungover with a nine-month-old. Even a three-year-old is just not an option.”
Lawrence shares two sons with her husband of seven years, art gallery director Cooke Maroney. Their children, Cy, 3, and Louie, nearly 1, keep her home life busy.
The star’s comments come just a day after she appeared on the Golden Globes red carpet. Lawrence, who previously dated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, began her relationship with Maroney in 2018 and married him in October 2019.
The couple live between Lower Manhattan and Beverly Hills. Lawrence has been open about her personal struggles, including a miscarriage while filming Don’t Look Up.
Even with her Hollywood success, Lawrence emphasized that her family remains her top priority.
It’s refreshing to see a major Hollywood star openly value family life over constant work. It shows that even actors with busy careers can prioritize downtime and parenthood. What do you think about celebrities embracing this kind of balance? Share your thoughts in the comments.
