A new trailer has been released for the BBC’s upcoming series Lord of the Flies, and it has already sparked a lot of interest. According to reports from the BBC, the four-part drama will premiere in the UK on Sunday, February 8.

The series will air weekly on BBC One at 9pm. All four episodes will also be available to stream on BBC iPlayer on the same night as the premiere. In Australia, the show is being co-produced with Stan. Sony Pictures Television is handling international distribution.

This new version of Lord of the Flies is written by Jack Thorne, who is known for Adolescence. It is based on the classic novel by William Golding. The story follows a group of schoolboys who are stranded on a remote Pacific island after a shipwreck. With no adults around, they are forced to survive on their own.

The newly released trailer gives a quick look at how things begin. At first, the boys try to work together and stay calm. One character says, “We need to think about food and shelter. We need to help each other and be good camp mates.” Early on, there is hope that order and teamwork can keep them safe.

Ralph, played by Winston Sawyers, steps up as a leader with support from Piggy, played by David McKenna. Piggy is the group’s voice of reason and logic. But things soon start to fall apart. Jack, played by Lox Pratt, becomes focused on hunting and power. He challenges Ralph’s leadership, and the group begins to split.

As the trailer shows, the boys slowly turn against each other. What starts as cooperation becomes fear, anger, and violence. The series stays close to the themes of the original book, showing how the boys lose their innocence and slip into tribal behavior.

The cast includes more than 30 young actors. Ike Talbut plays Simon, Thomas Connor appears as Roger, and Noah and Cassius Flemming play twins Sam and Eric. Other cast members include Cornelius Brandreth as Maurice and Tom Page-Turner as Bill.

Music plays a big role in setting the tone. The score was created by Cristobal Tapia de Veer, known for The White Lotus. The main theme and additional music were made by Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve through Bleeding Fingers Music.

The series is directed by Marc Munden and produced by Callum Devrell-Cameron. It was commissioned by BBC drama boss Lindsay Salt. Executive producers include Joel Wilson and Jamie Campbell for Eleven, Jack Thorne for One Shoe Films, Marc Munden, Nawfal Faizullah for the BBC, and Cailah Scobie for Stan.
