Zack Snyder recently shared a striking behind-the-scenes photo of Ben Affleck as Batman, giving fans a glimpse at just how tough filming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice really was.

Posting on Instagram on February 17, Snyder wrote, “Standing in the freezing rain in Detroit with Ben Affleck as we brought Gotham to life for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The black-and-white image shows Affleck in full Batman gear, standing against a gritty, explosion backdrop.

Affleck’s time as Batman was marked by intense physical demands, and the photo is a reminder of the dedication the actor put into the role. Fans immediately reacted to the post, reigniting speculation about whether Warner Bros. or even Netflix might revisit Snyder’s original vision for Justice League or adapt The Dark Knight Returns with Affleck returning to the cowl.

Outside the world of Gotham, Affleck has been busy with a series of high-profile projects. Earlier this year, his collaboration with Matt Damon, The Rip, premiered on Netflix and dominated streaming charts for three weeks.

The film, directed by Joe Carnahan, features the two actors as Miami narcotics officers in a high-stakes investigation, a role some critics say channels the same intensity Affleck brought to Batman.

Affleck is also directing and starring in Animals, a kidnapping thriller for Netflix. He took over the lead role of a mayoral candidate whose son is abducted after Damon had to leave for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The film also stars Gillian Anderson and Kerry Washington, and it is set for a late 2026 release.

On a personal note, Affleck has been making headlines since his divorce from Jennifer Lopez in early 2025. He has focused on his sobriety and his production work through Artists Equity, the company he co-founded with Damon. Rumors linking him to reality star Brooks Nader were quickly clarified as platonic by Nader herself.
