Denise Richards’ Diet and Workout Routine Revealed as She Shows Off Toned Abs at 55

Denise Richards is marking her 55th birthday this week, and fans are still talking about her toned figure. The actress, who first became a major sex symbol in the 1990s, continues to show off strong abs decades after her rise to fame.

Over the years, there has been ongoing talk about possible cosmetic procedures. Denise has addressed those rumors herself. She has said, ‘I have only done my boobs and I am very open and honest about that. I have had the same nose, if people look it up, and the lips.’ She has made it clear that aside from breast augmentation, she has not changed her face.

Her diet has played a big role in her fitness journey. In 2019, after viewers of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills noticed that her thyroid looked enlarged during a reunion episode, she decided to make a change.

She later explained on social media that she cut gluten from her meals. She wrote, ‘It’s amazing to me in a short time eliminating gluten from my diet how much my thyroid has changed.’ She added, ‘I had no idea how much our diet really can affect our body and for me how toxic gluten really is … I thank all of you who sent me messages. #selfcare’.

Since then, Denise has adjusted her eating habits even more. In an interview with Women’s Health, she shared that she does not stick to strict meal times. Instead of three large meals a day, she prefers to snack. She said, ‘Usually I like lunch or dinner food for breakfast, but sometimes I’ll do typical breakfast food, like an omelette with buffalo mozzarella, tomato, and basil.’

She also described herself as someone who grazes during the day. Fresh vegetables, cheese, and nuts are regular choices. She told the magazine, ‘I would say that I’m a bit of a grazer. I like doing a plate of fresh cut-up vegetables, like cucumber, tomato, carrots, and celery with crunchy sea salt. I also love fresh cheese, so I’ll do that and nuts throughout the day, too.’

When it comes to dinner, she enjoys cooking for her family. She shared, ‘I love to cook. I’ll roast a chicken and yellow potatoes with carrots. I also love artichokes. I’ll steam them, bake them, and drizzle balsamic on top.’ In recent years, she has also added meat and fish back into her diet.

Exercise is another key part of her routine. Denise has spoken about staying consistent with workouts. In an interview with HuffPost, she explained, ‘My secret to staying in shape is consistency. When I consistently stick to my routine, that is when I feel my best.’ She also said, ‘I also think you need to work out for your own body. Just because something works for someone else, doesn’t mean it will work for you.’

Pilates and dance are her main workouts. She has said that Pilates has been especially helpful for her stomach area. Speaking to Self, she shared, ‘I am very active. I found what works for my body- everyone’s body is different. For me it’s Pilates and dance. My abs get the best workout with my Pilates reformer – I had two C-sections and it was the only thing I found that got my tummy flat.’ She also enjoys hiking to stay active.

Denise has also supported non-surgical body treatments. She has endorsed Emsculpt Neo, a machine that uses electromagnetic and radio frequency energy to help build muscle and reduce fat. The treatment causes thousands of muscle contractions in a short session.

At 55 and as a mother of three, Denise Richards continues to focus on simple habits. She eats in a way that works for her and sticks to workouts she enjoys. It shows that long-term consistency may matter more than quick fixes.
