Amazon Prime Video has officially cast the two lead roles for its upcoming “Life Is Strange” TV series adaptation. According to Variety, Maisy Stella will play Chloe, and Tatum Grace Hopkins will take on the role of Max. The series was first reported to be in development at Prime Video back in September 2025.

The show follows Max (Hopkins), a photography student who discovers she can rewind time after saving her childhood best friend, Chloe (Stella). As they navigate this extraordinary power, the pair investigates the disappearance of a fellow student and uncovers a darker side of their town. Their choices will push them to life-or-death decisions that will change their lives forever.

Charlie Covell is writing the series and will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson are also executive producers under their Story Kitchen banner. The series is a collaboration between Square Enix, Story Kitchen, LuckyChap, and Amazon MGM Studios.

Hopkins, who has mainly worked on stage, is making her television debut with this series. Her previous work includes starring roles in the Broadway productions “The Queen of Versailles” and “For the Girls,” as well as the short film “Meek,” which premiered at the Montclair Film Festival in 2024.

Stella is an accomplished musician and has significant acting experience. She starred as Daphne Conrad for six seasons on ABC’s music drama “Nashville.” Her film credits include the critically acclaimed “My Old Ass” opposite Aubrey Plaza in 2024, which earned her an Independent Spirit Award, and Maude Apatow’s feature debut “Poetic License,” which premiered at Tribeca in 2025. Later this year, Stella will appear in the feature “Flowervale Street” alongside Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor.

The casting news comes as fans eagerly await the release of “Life is Strange: Reunion,” which will conclude Chloe and Max’s story. The game is set to launch on March 26 for Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The original “Life Is Strange” game debuted in 2015 to critical acclaim and industry recognition. Since then, the franchise has expanded with several games, including the prequel “Life Is Strange: Before the Storm” in 2017, “The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit” and “Life Is Strange 2” in 2018, “Life Is Strange: True Colors” in 2021, and “Life Is Strange: Double Exposure” in 2024. The games were developed by Don’t Nod Entertainment and Deck Nine, with Square Enix publishing.

This adaptation marks a major step for the franchise as it brings the beloved characters of Chloe and Max from game screens to television.
