Robert Downey Jr. became the official godparent of the new Disney Adventure ship in a lively ceremony in Singapore. The actor, known for his iconic role as Tony Stark, shared the spotlight with Disney executives and even reunited with Spider-Man, joking that the young hero reminded him so much of his own Marvel character.

“All right! How are we? Well never let it be said I don’t know how to make an entrance, right?” Downey said, greeting the crowd. He admired the ship, calling it “absolutely massive. It’s gargantuan. Have you been up top? There’s an entire amusement park up there. It’s bananas.” He recommended the Iron Cycle Coaster to guests, adding, “I got a good feeling about that one.”

During the christening ceremony, Downey formally blessed the vessel. “I christened the Disney Adventure. May God bless this ship, and all who sail upon her,” he declared, with the help of Disney executives Josh D’Amaro and Joe Schott.

Disney Cruise Line also offered a first look at the ship’s seven themed areas. Disney Discovery Reef brings aquatic favorites like The Little Mermaid, Lilo & Stitch, Finding Nemo, and Luca to life with shops and dining options. At the center of the ship, Disney Imagination Garden features a magical storybook courtyard, complete with a topiary of Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Mouse.

Marvel fans can head to Marvel Landing on the upper deck for new superhero experiences and attractions, paired with a sun deck and infinity pool. The streets of San Fransokyo, inspired by Big Hero 6, provide games, shops, and cinemas. Town Square offers an immersive forest setting with cafes, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Woody and Jessie’s Wild Slides in Toy Story Place bring bright, colorful fun with twisting slides and splash landings. Wayfinder Bay, tucked at the back of the ship, offers an open-air oasis for relaxation and stunning ocean views.

According to Disney Cruise Line, the ship will host a preview sailing before officially welcoming guests on its maiden voyage departing Singapore on March 10th.

Spider-Man also met with Downey during the festivities, shared a lighthearted moment saying, “You remind me so much of Tony Stark.” Fans can expect the Disney Adventure to combine the excitement of Marvel heroes, Disney classics, and immersive family entertainment all in one massive ship.

It’s exciting to see how Disney continues to push the limits of cruise entertainment. Robert Downey Jr.’s presence adds a nostalgic Marvel touch, and the themed experiences look like they will delight kids and adults alike. What do you think of the Disney Adventure?
