Fans of the Dune saga finally got a first look at the upcoming Dune: Part Three, with Warner Bros and Legendary releasing the trailer on Tuesday. The film is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, and it brings back stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Javier Bardem. New faces joining the cast include Robert Pattinson and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Ahead of the trailer, character posters were shared on Monday featuring key actors like Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, and newcomer Isaach de Bankolé, giving fans a glimpse at who to expect in the final installment.

The teaser shows the story taking place 17 years after Dune: Part Two. In one early scene, Zendaya’s Chani asks Paul (Chalamet), “If we have a girl, what will we name her?” She adds that if it’s a boy, he should be named Leto after Paul’s father so he “would have the wisdom of his grandfather.”

Later, we see Robert Pattinson’s Scytale, recognizable with a platinum blonde buzz cut, and Paul also sporting a similar look as he climbs a plinth above a cheering crowd. During a desert confrontation, Paul says in a voice-over, “I’m not afraid to die, but I must not die yet.” The trailer ends with Chani preparing to face an unseen threat.

Dune: Part Three continues Legendary’s expansive Dune universe, based on Frank Herbert’s acclaimed novels. The franchise includes Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2023), which together earned $1.12 billion worldwide and received eight Oscars from 15 nominations, including Best Picture nods. Denis Villeneuve directed all three films, co-writing the scripts with Jon Spaihts, with Eric Roth also helping on the first film.

The Dune universe recently expanded with the prequel series Dune: Prophecy, written and produced by Alison Schapker. The show, set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ rise, premiered on HBO and Max last November.

Seeing the first trailer for Dune: Part Three gives fans an exciting glimpse into what promises to be an epic conclusion. With returning favorites and new characters, the stakes are higher than ever. I think this final chapter could be the most visually striking and intense of the trilogy. What do you think fans will see unfold in this finale? Share your thoughts in the comments.
