The young stars of the upcoming Harry Potter TV series are making headlines — and it’s not just for magic. Dominic McLaughlin, 12, Arabella Stanton, 11, and Alastair Stout, 12, have each been reported to earn £500,000 for the first series of the HBO Max remake.

Dominic will take on the role of Harry Potter, the boy wizard who made Daniel Radcliffe a household name 25 years ago. Arabella and Alastair will play Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, rounding out the new Hogwarts trio.

A source told The Sun, “This is a whopping payday for three kids who haven’t even hit their teenage years yet — and it’s just the beginning. They’re being paid £500,000 for the first series. If they keep this up, they’re on track to be multi-millionaires before they turn 18.”

The trio were chosen from over 32,000 hopefuls to star in the first of seven series planned to cover all of J.K. Rowling’s fantasy novels. The first installment, adapting Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is set to launch on Christmas Day. Rowling herself is listed as an executive producer.

The young actors made their first public appearance in a short trailer released last week. In it, Harry is introduced at a school for non-magical children, or “muggles,” before heading to Hogwarts. The teaser sparked debate among fans, with some saying it looks “too similar” to the original film.

Daniel Radcliffe, now 36, commented on the new casting, saying, “They just seem so young. I just look at them and say, ‘Oh it’s crazy I was doing that at that age’. But it’s also incredibly sweet and I hope they’re having a great time.” Radcliffe, along with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, went on to build fortunes in film and stage, with Radcliffe reportedly worth over £100 million, Watson £64 million, and Grint around £50 million.

The young cast are reportedly earning over £60,000 per episode for the eight-part series, marking a dramatic start to what is expected to be a career-defining project. The new series promises to introduce a fresh generation to the world of magic while continuing a franchise that has captivated fans for decades.

It’s incredible how much these young actors are earning before their teenage years. It’s a huge responsibility but also an amazing opportunity to step into such iconic roles. Fans are bound to have strong opinions about the new cast, and it will be interesting to see how audiences respond to this next chapter in Harry Potter’s story.
