HBO has officially kicked off the 15th anniversary celebration of Game of Thrones with a new teaser that brings together footage from the original series, House of the Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Fans are already buzzing online about the clips, which promise a look back at the rich world of Westeros while teasing what’s still to come.

The original Game of Thrones finale left some fans divided, but the franchise is far from finished. HBO is building a sprawling lineup of shows that explore Westeros from its earliest days to new adventures tied to House of the Dragon.

House of the Dragon will return for its third season in June. The series, which follows the Targaryen Civil War, is expected to kick off with the infamous Battle of the Gullet, one of the bloodiest naval battles in Westeros history. Fans can expect more high-stakes conflicts as the Greens and Blacks fight for control of the Iron Throne. Emma D’Arcy reprises her role as Rhaenyra Targaryen, navigating treacherous politics and family betrayal.

Meanwhile, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has already been renewed for a second season, set to air in 2027. The show follows Dunk and Egg, and the new season will adapt George R.R. Martin’s second Dunk and Egg story, The Sworn Sword.

HBO is also developing a series called Aegon’s Conquest, written by Mattson Tomlin, known for The Batman 2. The project will explore Aegon Targaryen’s arrival in Westeros and his conquest of the Seven Kingdoms. At this point, it’s unclear if it will be a series or a movie.

Fans can also look forward to Nine Voyages, an animated series from Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky. The show will follow the early adventures of Corlys “The Sea Snake” Velaryon, who appears in House of the Dragon, played by Steve Toussaint.

Another prequel, 10,000 Ships, is in the works as well. The story follows Nymeria, the legendary warrior for whom Arya’s direwolf is named, as she travels from her home to Dorne. Eboni Booth is reportedly working on a new pilot for the series, which was first announced in 2024.

The Game of Thrones universe continues to expand, giving fans plenty to look forward to over the next few years. From epic battles to intimate character stories, HBO is doubling down on the world George R.R. Martin created.

These upcoming series show how much life is left in Westeros, even after the original show ended. It’s exciting to see both live-action and animated projects exploring the rich history of the Seven Kingdoms. What do you think will be the most exciting part of this new era?
