‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 Release Date Confirmed as New Trailer Drops
HBO has officially confirmed the release date for “House of the Dragon” season 3. The show will return on June 21 at 9 p.m. ET, with episodes also available to stream at the same time on HBO Max, according to HBO.
The new season will have eight episodes. It will follow a weekly release schedule, with the final episode set to air on August 9. While HBO had already said the series would arrive in June, this is the first time the exact date has been shared. A new teaser trailer has also been released alongside the announcement.
The series is a prequel to “Game of Thrones” and is based on George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood.” It takes place around 200 years before the events of the original show. The story focuses on the Targaryen family and a major civil war known as the Dance of Dragons.
The cast includes a long list of returning and familiar names. Among them are Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Harry Collett, along with many others across the ensemble.
The show was created by Ryan Condal and George R.R. Martin. They both serve as executive producers. Condal is also the showrunner. Other executive producers working on the series include Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett.
This series is part of a larger expansion of the “Game of Thrones” world. HBO and Warner Bros. are also working on other related projects. One of them is “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” another prequel series that has already started building its own audience. A separate film project based on Aegon’s Conquest is also in development.
HBO is clearly building a long-term universe around “Game of Thrones,” and “House of the Dragon” is the main part of it right now. The confirmed release date helps build excitement, but it also shows how much pressure is on the show to keep viewers interested. What do you think about this direction for the franchise?
