Andy Serkis has stirred conversation in the Marvel fandom after appearing to suggest that Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, could return in Avengers: Doomsday. The character is played by Iman Vellani and was last seen in The Marvels in 2023.

At this point, Vellani is not listed in the official cast for Avengers: Doomsday. Still, Serkis’ comments have led many to believe her return may already be planned, even if it has not been announced yet.

The moment came during a joint interview with Cinemahub, where Serkis and Vellani were talking about their upcoming projects. Both actors are currently working together on the animated film Animal Farm.

During the conversation, Vellani brought up Serkis’ role as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which he is directing and starring in. Serkis then shifted the discussion toward Marvel.

“I’m excited to see you in Doomsday!” Serkis said during the exchange. Vellani immediately reacted and responded, “No, you can’t say that!”

Serkis then appeared to backtrack slightly, saying, “Oh I can’t? Oh, well, if there should ever be the chance to see you in a film, like called Doomsday…” Vellani quickly added, “If there is a chance, like Doomsday…” before steering the topic back to their shared project.

The exchange has raised questions about whether Serkis was teasing real information or simply got carried away during a casual conversation. Since both actors are currently promoting Animal Farm, it is also possible the moment was just friendly banter.

Marvel has not confirmed Ms. Marvel’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday. However, fans have already been expecting her return after the events of The Marvels. In that film, Kamala Khan was shown beginning to build a new group of young heroes, including recruiting Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld, and connecting with Cassie Lang.

Cassie Lang, played by Kathryn Newton, has already been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday. This has led to more speculation that a younger team of heroes could appear in the film, even if only briefly.

Reports also suggest that some filming may still be happening for smaller roles after the main production phase. This has added to theories that certain characters could appear in short scenes that set up future Marvel projects, including Avengers: Secret Wars and possible Young Avengers stories.

In Animal Farm, Serkis voices Mr. Jones, the farm owner, while Vellani voices the piglets Puff and Tammy. The film also features Seth Rogen, Glenn Close, Steve Buscemi, and Woody Harrelson in voice roles.

For now, Ms. Marvel’s return remains unconfirmed. Still, Serkis’ comments have added fresh speculation and excitement around what Marvel is planning for the next phase of its universe.

What do you think about this? Do you believe Ms. Marvel will return in Avengers: Doomsday, or was this just a slip during an interview? Share your thoughts in the comments.
