A new exclusive clip has been released for the upcoming animated film “Swapped,” which features Michael B. Jordan in a very different kind of role from what audiences are used to seeing from him.

The film is set to arrive on Netflix on May 1. According to Netflix Tudum, this project also marks a new step for Jordan, as he moves into voice acting for animation after a strong run in live-action films. His involvement has already drawn attention because of his recent Oscar win and his popular roles in movies like “Black Panther” and “Creed.”

In “Swapped,” Jordan voices a small forest creature living in a strange valley filled with different kinds of animals and plant-like life forms. The story changes when his character suddenly ends up in a different body after a swap. This unexpected event pushes the character into a confusing but exciting journey.

Director Nathan Greno described the world of the film in comments shared with Netflix Tudum. He said, “In this world, the creatures of the valley exist on a spectrum between plant and animal, creating a wild ecosystem. At the center of the film is the smallest creature in the valley, voiced by Michael B. Jordan, who suddenly finds himself swapped into a completely different body.”

The film also includes a twist where the main character ends up sharing the story with another swapped character played by Juno Temple. Their situation leads them into danger, but it also helps them build an unexpected friendship as they try to survive.

The movie uses a body-swap idea similar to “Freaky Friday,” but places it in a fantasy world with animals instead of humans. This gives the story a different feel while still keeping the focus on comedy, adventure, and character growth.

Along with Jordan and Temple, the voice cast includes Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Justina Machado, Ambika Mod, and Lolly Adefope. The script is written by John Whittington, Christian Magalhaes, and Robert Snow, with Nathan Greno directing the film.

“Swapped” is being positioned as a family-friendly release that aims to attract both younger viewers and adults. The mix of a well-known cast and an unusual story concept is already creating interest ahead of its release.

An exclusive clip from the movie is now out, giving audiences their first real look at the animation style and Jordan’s character in action.

This is a surprising shift for Michael B. Jordan, and it will be interesting to see how his voice performance works in animation. It is also a bold idea to move him into a completely different genre like this. Do you think this kind of role change will work for him? Share your thoughts in the comments.
