‘Supergirl’ Has a Post-Credits Scene, Director Confirms

Director Craig Gillespie has confirmed that ‘Supergirl’ will include a post-credits scene, but fans hoping for even the smallest hint of what it contains are going to have to wait.

Speaking with Collider, Gillespie revealed that the film’s current runtime is just under 110 minutes with credits, roughly 20 minutes shorter than James Gunn’s ‘Superman’. When pressed on the post-credits sequence, his answer was brief and absolute: “I can’t tease that, sorry.”

That single line from Collider’s interview has since sent fans into full speculation mode, and honestly, the timing could not be more loaded with possibility. Gunn is currently filming ‘Man of Tomorrow’, which is slated to open on July 9, 2027, and while Milly Alcock has not been announced as part of the cast, it would not be entirely surprising if the two Kryptonian cousins ended up reunited on screen sooner than expected. The working assumption across fan communities is that the stinger will serve as a tease for that upcoming project.

Gillespie also shared an update on where the production currently stands, saying he feels “really great” about the film and that they are in the “final stages” of completing visual effects while finishing the final audio mix. That sense of enthusiasm from a director who has spent months shaping the project into its final form is exactly the kind of signal that tends to build anticipation.

The reaction to the film’s trailers has been largely positive, though some have noted visual similarities to Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movies.

‘Supergirl’ is adapted from the critically acclaimed comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, and centers on a version of Kara Zor-El who, unlike her cousin Kal-El, was raised on a surviving fragment of Krypton and watched everyone she loved perish, forging a deeply cynical and jaded personality.

One of the biggest departures from the source material is the addition of Jason Momoa as the alien bounty hunter Lobo, a character never featured in King and Evely’s original run.

Milly Alcock, who first made her presence felt in ‘House of the Dragon’, was personally championed for the role by Gunn, who believed she possessed the edge, grace, and authenticity needed for this particular interpretation of the character.

She stars alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa. The ensemble is a compelling one, and the solo outing is shaping up to be a genuinely distinct entry in the growing DCU slate.

Whether or not ‘Supergirl’ remains the shortest film in the DCU’s Chapter 1 “Gods and Monsters” remains to be seen, as DC Studios also has ‘Clayface’ arriving later this year. What is certain is that a post-credits scene, however guarded its contents remain, signals the filmmakers have bigger plans in motion for Kara Zor-El’s place in this universe, and that alone is reason to stay seated when the credits roll.

Let us know in the comments what you think the post-credits scene in ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ will reveal.
