A new clip from The Mandalorian & Grogu has dropped, giving fans another look at the upcoming big-screen continuation of the hit Disney+ series.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, and is being positioned as the next major chapter in the Star Wars universe. It continues the story of Din Djarin and Grogu after the events of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.

The movie is directed by Jon Favreau, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. It is produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, making it a major theatrical release for the franchise.

According to official production details shared by Lucasfilm, the story takes place after the fall of the Galactic Empire. With the galaxy still unstable, remaining Imperial warlords continue to pose a threat, and the New Republic steps in with a new mission for Din Djarin and Grogu.

In this mission, the duo is recruited to help rescue Rotta the Hutt in exchange for critical information tied to a New Republic target. The storyline brings in new political tensions while keeping the focus on the bond between the Mandalorian and Grogu.

The cast is led by Pedro Pascal, who returns as Din Djarin. The character continues his path after agreeing to work with the New Republic at the end of the series’ third season.

Grogu also returns, once again brought to life through animatronics, puppetry, and visual effects. The character remains one of the central emotional anchors of the franchise.

The film also introduces new key characters. Jeremy Allen White voices Rotta the Hutt, Jabba’s son, who is described as a physically powerful figure involved in gladiator-style fights. Sigourney Weaver plays Ward, a New Republic colonel and former Rebel Alliance pilot.

Other returning and supporting roles include familiar faces from the Star Wars universe, expanding the connection between the film and the broader franchise timeline.

Production began in California in 2024 and wrapped later that year after earlier delays caused by industry strikes. The project was developed after Lucasfilm shifted plans from a fourth season of The Mandalorian to a feature film instead.

With the new clip now out, anticipation is building as fans get closer to seeing Din Djarin and Grogu return on the big screen in one of the franchise’s most anticipated releases.
