Burger King Drops Star Wars Menu on May 4—With a ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Ad Buzzing Fans
Fast food chains often use big pop culture moments to launch limited-time menus, especially when a major movie release is coming up.
These collaborations tend to mix familiar characters and themed packaging with regular menu items, creating a short burst of hype for fans. They also usually appear for a limited time, which makes them feel more like an event than a normal menu update.
According to a news release reported by Burger King, a new themed menu is being released in the United States as part of a promotion tied to the upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu. The rollout begins on May 4, which is widely known as Star Wars Day, and will be available for a limited time at participating locations.
The promotion is connected to the larger Star Wars universe, specifically focusing on characters from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. The campaign also builds anticipation for the new movie centered on the Mandalorian and Grogu, which is scheduled for theatrical release later this month.
The menu includes several themed items inspired by the characters and world of the story. One of the main items is the BBQ Bounty Whopper, which comes in special packaging and includes classic burger ingredients like cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and BBQ sauce. Another item is the Grogu’s Blue Cookie Shake, which mixes soft serve with blue cookie flavoring and is topped with cookie pieces.
There are also savory items like Grogu’s Garlic Chicken Fries, which are seasoned and served with a garlic dipping sauce, and Imperial Cheddar Ranch Tots, which combine cheese, potatoes, and ranch seasoning in themed packaging. The company is also offering collectible cups that can be unlocked through certain combo meals and bundles.
Joel Yashinsky, chief marketing officer for Burger King U.S. & Canada, explained the idea behind the collaboration in a statement. He said, “From themed packaging to bold, flavor-forward menu items, this is our way of celebrating an iconic new film with the iconic flame-grilled taste only Burger King can deliver.”
Alongside the main menu, a kids’ meal option is also part of the promotion. The “Mandalorian and Grogu King Jr. Meal” includes choices like a hamburger or chicken nuggets, along with sides such as apple sauce and fries. Drinks include milk or apple juice, and each meal comes with a themed toy based on the characters.
The upcoming movie at the center of the promotion is set to release in theaters on May 22. It features Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian and Sigourney Weaver in a supporting role.
The collaboration shows how major franchises continue to expand beyond film and television into food promotions and retail experiences. For fans, it adds another way to engage with the world of the story while waiting for the movie’s release.
