A new Deathstroke and Bane movie is in early development at DC Studios, according to reporting from Deadline. The project is still at a very early stage and nothing is finalized yet.

Sources say that Greg Mottola is currently the front-runner to direct the film. He is already part of the DC Studios world after working on episodes of Peacemaker. However, insiders also say there are other directors being considered, so no final decision has been made.

The movie itself is still without a finished script. No contracts have been signed yet either. Everything is still being developed under DC Studios leadership from James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The idea of a Deathstroke and Bane film first started being discussed in September 2024. The screenplay was reportedly written in early form by Matthew Orton, who also worked on Marvel’s Moon Knight.

If the movie moves forward, it would bring Bane back to live-action for the first time since The Dark Knight Rises, where the character was played by Tom Hardy. Bane is a physically powerful villain who is known for using a strength-enhancing drug called Venom and for famously breaking Batman’s back in the comics storyline “Breaking the Bat.”

Deathstroke also has a long history in DC comics. He is a mercenary and former soldier who becomes a super-enhanced fighter after a military experiment. He has fought teams like the Teen Titans and heroes such as Batman and Green Arrow. In live action, the character has appeared in different DC projects, including versions voiced or briefly portrayed in earlier films and shows.

Greg Mottola, who is being talked about as a possible director, is known for comedy films like “Superbad” and “Adventureland.” He is also working on the series The Miniature Wife. According to Deadline, he is considered a strong candidate, but DC Studios has not confirmed anything.

As reported, DC Studios did not give any official comment on the project. For now, the Deathstroke and Bane movie remains in early development with no confirmed director or release timeline.
