Work is still moving forward on Season 2 of Ahsoka, and according to Dave Filoni, the new episodes are now deep into post-production. Fans have been waiting for a major update ever since the first season ended in 2023, and while Filoni is not ready to reveal an exact release date yet, he recently shared new details during an interview with ScreenRant.

Filoni explained that the team is currently focused on editing and visual effects as work continues behind the scenes. “Working on it! It’s coming. It’s come a long way. Obviously, I’m editing all the episodes at once right now and just deep in visual effects with the team. But I’m really proud of everyone and the work they put in. Lots of things to resolve and figure out, but that’s normal.”

He also said the cast and crew are excited to finally experience a bigger fan celebration this time around. “I’m excited for people to see it. We didn’t really get to go out and premiere, in a way, last time. I think that the team’s really excited to be out with the fans with this one and see how it goes.”

Even though fans are eager to know when the new season will arrive, Filoni stayed quiet about the exact release plans. When asked directly about a premiere window, he responded with a little mystery. “I’m not saying, but I might know. Everything needs its moment. Right now, this is Maul’s moment.”

That comment lines up with Lucasfilm’s current focus on other upcoming projects, including The Mandalorian and Grogu and Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. Still, Disney+ has already included Ahsoka Season 2 in its 2026 lineup, making a summer or fall release seem likely. Production reportedly began in the United Kingdom back in April 2025.

Season 1 followed Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren after the fall of the Empire, while also bringing Grand Admiral Thrawn fully into live-action. The series connected heavily to Star Wars Rebels and expanded several storylines fans had waited years to see continue.

The second season is expected to push those stories even further. Hayden Christensen is confirmed to return as Anakin Skywalker, while more familiar faces from Season 1 are also coming back, including characters played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eman Esfandi, and Ivanna Sakhno. Reports also say Admiral Ackbar will appear in the new season.

One of the biggest questions right now is whether Season 2 will be the final chapter for Ahsoka’s story. Filoni did not fully answer that, but he hinted that he already knows where the story is heading. “You never know. Everything works as planned, and I know where the story goes and where it should tie up. And so, I’m not really worried about that.”

He also mentioned that fan theories continue to entertain him as development moves forward. “Fan speculation is always fun. It’s always fun to hear what people think. But we got a lot going on right now in the present. Like a Jedi, you must keep your mind in the here and now.”

For now, fans will have to wait a little longer before Lucasfilm officially reveals more footage or a release date. But based on Filoni’s latest comments, Season 2 of Ahsoka is progressing steadily and still has a major role to play in the future of Star Wars on Disney+.
