In the latest episodes of Euphoria, viewers have been reacting strongly to some of the most explicit and unusual scenes the show has ever done.

Season 3 of the series has pushed the story into even more extreme territory. Rue is shown working as a drug runner, Cassie has entered the world of OnlyFans content, Nate is dealing with violent consequences from criminal debts, and Jules is now involved in escort work. These storylines have made the season feel much darker and more chaotic than earlier ones.

One of the most talked-about moments happens in Episode 5, involving Sydney Sweeney as Cassie. The scene shows her participating in a fantasy sequence tied to a fetish known as macrophilia. In the episode, Cassie appears as a giant version of herself, towering over a man and interacting with him in a way that represents this specific kink.

Macrophilia, sometimes called the “giantess kink,” is a sexual fantasy where a person is aroused by the idea of someone extremely large or giant-sized. In many cases, the fantasy involves power differences, where the smaller person feels overwhelmed, dominated, or fascinated by the idea of being controlled by a much larger figure.

Sexuality experts have explained that this kink is more common than many people realize. According to sociologist Sarah Melancon, PhD, a clinical sexologist, “Macrophilia is a term describing sexual fantasies related to giant persons, whether male (giant) or female (giantess)… if we consider how often giant and giantess-type stories appear in our culture, it isn’t surprising that some people find these themes erotic.”

Another expert, Pam Shaffer, MFT, described the emotional element behind the fantasy by saying, “It centres around the erotic feeling of being ‘helpless’ as the giantess dominates those beneath her, forcing them into sexual slavery or crushing them with her strength.”

In the episode, Cassie’s transformation into a giant woman is not meant to be literal science fiction. Instead, it is a visual metaphor representing the fantasy world tied to her online adult content career. The show uses this surreal imagery to show how her work on platforms like OnlyFans is pushing her further into extreme and performative content.

The scene quickly went viral online, with many fans calling it one of the most shocking moments of the season so far. It has also led to discussions about how far the show is willing to go with sexual themes and psychological storytelling.

Behind the scenes, Sydney Sweeney said the sequence was a major production effort. In a behind-the-scenes interview shared by HBO, she described it positively, saying, “The Cassie-Zilla sequence was probably the coolest thing I’ve ever done.”

The creative team behind the series also explained the technical side of the scene. Director of photography Marcell Rév said they drew inspiration from classic giant monster films like Godzilla, while showrunner Sam Levinson noted that building the miniature sets took nearly a year of preparation.

Sweeney also commented on her character’s direction, explaining that Cassie is fully aware of the choices she is making in pursuit of fame and attention, even if those choices come with consequences.

Episodes of Euphoria Season 3 are currently streaming on HBO Max, and the show continues to spark debate over its bold and often controversial storytelling choices.
