First Look at Anya Taylor-Joy’s ‘Lucky’ Teases Apple TV’s Next Big Crime Thriller Hit
Apple TV+ is getting ready to launch a new crime thriller called Lucky, and it already has a lot of attention thanks to its star cast and fast-paced story setup.
The series is led by Anya Taylor-Joy, who has become one of the most in-demand actors in recent years after roles in projects like The Queen’s Gambit, The Witch, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and The Gorge.
In Lucky, Taylor-Joy plays a woman with a criminal past who tries to build a normal life, but things fall apart when she is pulled back into danger. She has to take on one last illegal job in hopes of finally escaping her old world for good. The series is based on the novel by Marissa Stapley and is adapted for television by a writing team that includes Hillary Bettis, Cassie Pappas, Mark Stassenko, and Jonathan Tropper.
The cast also includes Timothy Olyphant and William Fichtner, adding more weight to the crime-driven story. The series is set to run for seven episodes, with Apple TV+ releasing the first two episodes on July 15, 2026. The season will then roll out weekly and finish on August 19.
Collider reports that the show was previously teased earlier in the year, but this new update confirms the full release plan along with fresh promotional material. The platform is positioning Lucky as one of its key summer releases, especially following the strong performance of other recent Apple TV+ projects.
The story of Lucky focuses on survival, identity, and the struggle to break free from a dangerous past. The main character’s return to crime is not a choice she makes lightly, but something forced by circumstances that push her into a final high-risk mission.
“Lucky follows a reformed criminal (Anya Taylor-Joy) who is forced to confront her past and return to illicit activities for one final job with the hopes of securing her freedom and leaving behind her former life once and for all,” Collider reports in its description of the series.
At this point, Apple TV+ has not confirmed whether Lucky will return for a second season. However, with a strong cast and a well-known source novel, there is already speculation that the series could continue if it performs well after release.
For now, viewers will have to wait until July 15 to see how the story unfolds, but Lucky is already shaping up to be one of the platform’s most talked-about new shows of the year.
