Apple TV+ Renews Elle Fanning’s Hit Series ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ for Season 2
According to Apple TV+, “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” has officially been renewed for a second season ahead of the show’s Season 1 finale on May 20. The streaming platform also announced that Eva Anderson will join creator David E. Kelley as co-showrunner for the new season.
The series is based on Rufi Thorpe’s 2024 novel of the same name and stars Elle Fanning as Margo, a young woman trying to survive after dropping out of college while raising a baby and struggling with money problems. The cast also includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Nick Offerman, Nicole Kidman, Greg Kinnear and Marcia Gay Harden.
Apple TV+ shared the renewal news while praising the response to the first season. Matt Cherniss, Apple TV’s head of programming, said audiences quickly connected with the show and its characters.
“Ever since David’s sharp adaptation of Rufi’s novel debuted, audiences have wanted to spend more time with these riveting characters and the brilliant cast behind them, led by Elle, Michelle, Nick and Thaddea,” Cherniss said. “We’re excited to watch Margo and the entire family continue to defy the odds in Season 2, in the way only they can, with humor, determination, and creativity.”
Fanning also reacted to the renewal and said making the series has been one of the most meaningful experiences of her career.
“Embarking on the adventure of bringing Margo to the screen has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” she said. “When I first read Rufi’s stunning story, it felt wholly original and most importantly human, and then with David’s writing, along with our epic cast of heart-wrenching performances, it truly felt like we had something special.”

She added, “Having the opportunity to bring more of Margo’s troubles, creativity, fearless spirit and authenticity to audiences with a second season, makes me incredibly happy and excited. I can promise everyone they’re in for a wild, messy and beautiful ride.”
David E. Kelley also shared his excitement about continuing the story with Apple TV+ and A24.
“‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ was an irresistible proposition to me from day one,” Kelley said. “I fell in love with Rufi’s world and unpredictable characters, and it’s been rewarding to see audiences embrace this series. We can’t wait to continue this story with our partners at Apple and A24.”
