‘The Agency’ Season 2 Trailer Drops as Michael Fassbender’s Spy Thriller Sets Paramount+ Return Date
Paramount+ has dropped the first trailer for The Agency Season 2, bringing Michael Fassbender back into the world of espionage. The new footage also confirms the release date for the upcoming season, giving fans a clear look at what’s next for the spy drama.
According to Paramount+, The Agency returns after a strong debut in 2024, when the series earned positive reviews and was quickly renewed for a second season later that year. The show follows Fassbender as CIA operative Brandon “Martian” Colby, a deep-cover agent whose personal and professional lives collide after a relationship with a political prisoner in Sudan leads him into a chain of dangerous events. The series is a reimagining of the French spy drama Le Bureau des Légendes.
The official synopsis for Season 2 describes a darker and more unstable situation for the characters. It reads, “Betrayed, compromised, and haunted by the woman he couldn’t save, CIA agent Martian’s world unravels as a mole hunt plunges London Station into chaos. As loyalties fracture, the truth becomes a weapon – and Martian’s only way out is deeper in.”
The trailer shows Martian under growing pressure as he admits to betraying his country, though he does not express regret for his actions. The footage cuts between tense interrogations, shifting alliances, and fast-paced action scenes. The biggest focus is the internal investigation inside the agency, where a mole hunt puts Martian directly in the line of suspicion.
Alongside Fassbender, the series features a large ensemble cast including Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, Richard Gere, Katherine Waterston, and Harriet Sansom Harris, among others. Guest appearances in the new season include Dominic West and Hugh Bonneville, adding further weight to the already star-heavy lineup.
The series is written and executive produced by Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth. Production also includes executive producers from 101 Studios, Smokehouse Pictures, and Federation Studios, along with Michael Fassbender himself. Several major industry names are attached to the project, reflecting its high-profile status within Paramount+’s lineup.
The Agency Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes, all releasing on Paramount+ starting June 21, 2026. The trailer sets the tone for a more intense and personal season, with trust breaking down inside the CIA and Martian caught at the center of it all.
