A new wave of Marvel Legends toy listings tied to Avengers: Doomsday has sparked major discussion among fans, especially because one of the figures reportedly included is Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

The list also includes Doctor Doom, Thor, and Captain America, and is expected to be officially revealed by Hasbro at San Diego Comic-Con, according to Sammy’s Collectable Toys Hall.

Avengers: Doomsday is an upcoming Marvel Studios film directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. It is being positioned as a major crossover event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing together characters from multiple franchises and even different universes. The film is produced by Marvel Studios and AGBO and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is scheduled for release on December 18.

The movie follows a massive multiverse conflict where heroes from Earth-616, the Fantastic Four’s universe, and the X-Men universe come together to face Doctor Doom. Robert Downey Jr. is set to play Doom, marking a major shift for the character and the franchise. The ensemble includes Avengers, Wakandans, New Avengers, Fantastic Four members, and X-Men characters all sharing the same storyline for the first time.

The reported inclusion of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man in the Marvel Legends wave is what has grabbed the most attention. Maguire originally played Spider-Man in Sam Raimi’s trilogy that began in 2002, long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe existed. His return in Spider-Man: No Way Home already confirmed that characters from older Spider-Man universes can cross into the MCU through multiverse storytelling.

If this toy listing is accurate, it suggests that Maguire’s Spider-Man may once again appear in a major MCU crossover rather than just a one-off cameo. While Marvel has not officially confirmed his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, merchandise leaks have historically been one of the earliest signs of major character appearances in Marvel films.

The significance of this potential return lies in how the MCU is building toward its multiverse conclusion. Avengers: Doomsday and its follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars are expected to merge multiple timelines and character versions into one large conflict. Bringing back Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man would connect the early 2000s Marvel film era directly into the current MCU storyline, making him part of a larger shared multiverse event rather than a standalone nostalgia appearance.

The film itself went through several major changes during development. It was originally part of plans involving Kang the Conqueror, but Marvel shifted direction following changes behind the scenes and rewrote the storyline to focus on Doctor Doom instead. The Russo brothers returned to direct the project, and Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely joined as writers.

Production took place in 2025 at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom, along with filming in Bahrain and other locations. The scale of the project reflects Marvel’s goal of uniting multiple superhero teams and legacy characters in one storyline.

While fans are still waiting for official confirmation from Marvel Studios or Hasbro, the Marvel Legends leak has already added new excitement around Tobey Maguire’s possible return. If true, it would mark one of the most unexpected and nostalgic crossovers in MCU history, bringing together different eras of superhero storytelling under one final multiverse conflict.
