Fans of The Handmaid’s Tale universe finally got the update they have been waiting for. The Testaments creator Bruce Miller has confirmed that June Osborne and her daughter Hannah, now known as Agnes in Gilead, will reunite in a future season of the Hulu series.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after the emotional season one finale, Miller opened up about the long-term plan for the story and made it clear that the reunion is coming. “I am planning to get June and Hannah/Agnes together by the end,” he revealed.

That moment has been at the center of this world since The Handmaid’s Tale first premiered. June spent years fighting against Gilead while desperately trying to save Hannah after she was taken away as a child. Even after escaping Gilead herself, June never stopped searching for her daughter. The final season of The Handmaid’s Tale ended with June still refusing to give up hope.

Now, The Testaments has moved the story one step closer.

The season one finale finally revealed to Agnes that June is her real mother. For viewers, it was one of the biggest emotional moments of the series so far. Agnes grew up hearing that June was a dangerous terrorist working against Gilead. Learning the truth completely changes how she sees herself and her family.

Bruce Miller explained that Agnes is only beginning to understand who June really is. “She starts to get the nature of her mother, and connect with the nature of her mother,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. He also said Agnes is starting to realize she carries the same strength and rebellious spirit as June.

The finale showed that clearly. Agnes finding the old drawing with her real name “Hannah” written on it was a powerful callback for longtime fans. It proved that a part of her old identity had survived all these years, even inside Gilead.

Miller said he does not want the reunion to feel rushed. Instead, he wants viewers to fully understand both June and Agnes before they finally come face to face again. “I hope we are making progress towards them getting to know each other as people now, so that when we do finally get them together, you feel like you’ve had a long time to understand and think about how that moment is going to be,” he explained.

The creator also teased that the reunion would not be the end of the story. He hinted there could still be much more to explore after June and Hannah reunite. According to Miller, Agnes still has an entire life and family waiting for her outside Gilead, including Luke, Nichole, and Moira.

Season two of The Testaments is already in development, and the finale made it clear that Agnes, Daisy, and their friends are slowly beginning to fight back against Gilead. Miller described the story as one about friendship, sisterhood, and survival.

For now, fans may still have to wait a little longer for the reunion they have wanted for years. But after Bruce Miller’s latest comments, one thing is finally certain: June and Hannah’s story is heading toward the moment viewers have been hoping for since the very beginning.
